Weekly news – 5th July 2021

Hi all,

Here is the news for the week: It was a very busy weekend for a lot of counties in hurling and football and there was some great matches.Unfortunately for a few counties, like my own, they are now finished for the year, and can at least now concentrate on the club scene. With Dublin hurlers causing one of the shocks of the weekend beating Galway, I hate Galway 😂 😂, I am please to announce the following:

The Dublin Senior Hurlers will play Kilkenny in the Leinster Senior Hurling Final in Croke Park on Saturday 17th July. This match will have limited capacity and seats will be in pre-allocated pods once again. If anyone wants to order tickets please email Secretary.starsoferin.dublin@gaa.ie before 8pm tomorrow Tue July 6th. I will need the first name, surname and email address of each member requesting tickets. The tickets will then be allocated to that member’s own online ticket account where they pay online and download their tickets to their phone.Tickets are €35 each with no concessions.”Thanks again Gaye for organising.

Training: Continues as normal this week. Some teams are taking a break this week from training like last week so ensure to keep an eye on your Whatsapp groups.

The Thursday booking in Stepaside all weather has been extended for the next four Thursdays up to and including 22nd July.We will take a month off then in line with the break in matches and resume week beginning 23rd August when we will have 2 slots a week in Stepaside Monday at 6pm and Thursday at 7pm. Each team will be given 1 all weather slot which will be allocated in course. This is to facilitate teams that will no longer be able to train in Ballyogan when the evenings close in. These dual bookings will be in place until the end of the season. Thanks Brian F and Peter for organising this.

Games: Best of luck to all the teams playing this weekend, again another busy weekend. As above, we have a lot of games on the pitch Saturday morning so appreciate if everyone can start on time, and therefore finish on time and be off the pitch for the next group.

NB: It is important that all players must wear mouthguards for all training sessions and matches. I would recommend having spares in the car, that what I do as my kids are always forgetting them plus their water.

Award of the week: Goes to Luca from the U9 boys team who recruited 2 new players for his team over the last couple of weeks. Keep up the great work.

New Members: RECRUIT, RECRUIT and RECRUIT are so key for our club. You don’t just have to recruit just for your kids team, if you know younger / older neighbours kids that might be interested, can you please spread the word. It is then up to the necessary team coaches to look after them when they turn up. Please promote the club by liking and sharing our great Social Media posts completed by Brian. There are lots of posts of different teams with their great results to date. Can all parents please try and recruit one new member each?

Forecast 5 update:We had had another great start to the month with a 3 way tie on 12 points. That includes James Mulhall, Michael and Tom ONeill. Im currently in joint 10th with Flynner on 8 points.
