Weekly news 11th January 2022

Hi all,
Happy New year to you all. Unfortunately it is not the start of the year we wanted but there is still loads we can do at home especially for us that have kids at home.
For example, now would be a great time for kids to practice their Football and Hurling skills.
Simple drills in the back garden or indoor if weather is poor:
Football:
10 * Practice bouncing the ball and catching.
10 * Run and bounce the ball and catch.
10 * Picking the ball off the ground with good foot.
10 * Picking the ball off the ground with weak foot.
10 * Handpass the ball off a wall with good hand and catch.
10 * Handpass the ball off a wall with weak hand and catch.
10 * Throw the ball in the air and catch.

Hurling: (tennis ball will do)
10 * Picking the ball direct off the ground and catching.
10 * Roll and pick the ball direct off the ground and catching.
10 * Walk with ball on hurl without dropping it.
10 * Run with ball on hurl without dropping it.
10 * Handpass the ball off a wall with good hand and catch.
10 * Handpass the ball off a wall with weak hand and catch.
10 * Throw the ball in the air and catch.

Running: There is a park / green area near us all so get the kids to do simple short laps / jogs. Prime example is the pond near me in Belarmine, great place for kids to do simple lap/s each day.

I know Gavin will be doing the usual videos for each group in due course and has already done one with the U9 girls last Thursday on a Zoom call, thanks again Mark and Gavin for this. The girls loved it.

Ladies team: Are starting pre-season training with online zoom classes and remote fitness challenges. Anyone wishing to join the team please contact Gaye @ 0871241409.

Operation Transformation: Unfortunately we cant do this event this year but it would be great if all members could do their own walking / running. Its great for the body and mind. I know from my own runs I have seen loads of members out and about so keep up the great work.
